Foxy Brown has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanour charge of "menacing", which is a great sounding crime.
This relates to that incident when the rapper attacked another women with a Blackberry phone - an incident that has already resulted in jail time for Foxy, given it breached probation conditions relating to an earlier conviction. After some confusion regarding a trial date earlier this week, Brown, real name Inga Marchand, attended court yesterday and submitted her guilty plea - a plea which helped her avoid a more serious felony assault charge that could have sent the rap star back to prison. As it was, Marchand was sentenced to time already served, and asked to write a letter of apology to her victim, Arlene Raymond. Although the rapper got off relatively lightly, commentators are now speculating as to whether Raymond will launch civil proceedings in relation to the incident, which left her with a bruised eye, chipped tooth and, presumably, the uneasy feeling of having been well and truly menaced.
